Secure Data Storage and Transmission

At Proof of life,  we employ a multi-faceted approach to ensure the security of data at rest and in transit. We prioritize the security of your data, especially when it comes to storage in Azure SQL. Azure SQL provides a comprehensive set of security features to ensure that your data is protected at all times. 

We use industry-standard encryption protocols to protect data both at rest and in transit. This includes:

• Transparent Data Encryption (TDE): Ensures that data stored in Azure SQL databases is encrypted at rest, protecting it from unauthorized access.
• Transport Layer Security (TLS): Encrypts data in transit between the client and the server, ensuring that data remains confidential and secure during transmission.

To enhance security, we divide data and store it across multiple databases. This approach includes:

• Distributed Storage: By storing data in multiple databases, we reduce the risk of unauthorized access to all data at once. Each database contains only a portion of the data, making it more challenging for potential attackers to access complete datasets.
• Data Isolation: Each database is isolated from others, ensuring that a breach in one database does not compromise the security of other databases.

Each set of data is stored on its own server, protected by IP restrictions and managed identities. This includes:

• IP Restrictions: Only authorized IP addresses can access the servers, preventing unauthorized access from unknown sources.
• Managed Identities: We use Azure Managed Identities to securely manage and authenticate access to resources, ensuring that only authorized users and applications can access the data.

We utilize Virtual Networks (VNets) and subnets to restrict access to resources. This network segmentation includes:

• Virtual Networks (VNets): VNets provide an isolated and secure environment for our resources, ensuring that only authorized traffic can access the network.
• Subnets: Subnets within VNets further segment the network, allowing us to apply additional security controls and restrict access to specific resources based on their sensitivity and function.
